Review Card & Book Review – Finding Love At The Magical Curiosity Shop By Jaimie Admans

In a shop full of stories, some magic is real.

Mickey Teasdale loves her quaint curiosity shop, where every item feels magical to her. She loves imagining the past owners of her knick-knacks and telling her made-up tales to customers, but lately, the magic has dimmed; the shop feels cluttered, and even her stories seem as worn as the items she sells.

Everything changes when the grumpiest customer Mickey’s ever met—single dad Ren Montague—walks in with his surly teen daughter, Ava. Ren hates mess and clutter and prefers order and calm, but he’ll do anything to see Ava smile. Yet, something shifts in him when he meets Mickey, who seems like she stepped out of her very own fairy tale.

When Ava discovers a secret diary, hidden from years long ago, she and Mickey believe it must have once belonged to a real-life mermaid! Ever sceptical, Ren tries to protect Ava from disappointment, but as they unravel the mystery together, something special happens…

Ren learns that happy ever afters still exist if you’re brave enough to look for them, and Mickey discovers that real-life can sometimes be way more magical than anything she could have ever imagined.

About The Author

My Review

This is a cosy, whimsical romance with a fairy-tale flair and a tender emotional core. At the heart of the story is Mickey, the eccentric owner of a delightfully chaotic curiosity shop, who spins fantastical stories about the items she sells. Enter Ren—a buttoned-up single dad with a strong dislike for clutter—who stumbles into Mickey’s world and gets far more than he bargained for.

The grumpy-sunshine dynamic between Mickey and Ren is charmingly played, striking a great balance between heart and humour. Ren’s daughter, Ava, is a standout character who adds warmth and unexpected depth to the story. The hidden diary and touches of mermaid lore thread a gentle sense of magic through the narrative, bringing extra sparkle to Mickey’s already enchanting world.

However, the story does lose a bit of momentum near the end. The third-act breakup feels a little too formulaic, and the resolution wraps up too quickly to fully satisfy the emotional buildup. A bit more time to linger in the final moments would have made the ending more impactful.

Still, this is a heartwarming, feel-good read for anyone who enjoys magical realism with a romantic twist and a sprinkle of seashells and serendipity.

Filthy Rich Temptation By Rachael Stewart

Theo

Making my first billion? Easy. Surviving Sadie — and her three-year-old — moving in? Pure torture. She’s my best friend’s little sister, the one girl I should never touch. Especially after that reckless kiss seven years ago…the kiss that ruined everything.

Now she’s here, under my roof, in every corner of my thoughts. Vulnerable. Off-limits. And so beautiful it hurts. I promised myself I’d protect her, keep my distance. But every laugh, every accidental touch, makes it harder to remember why I ever said no.

Sadie

I ran to Theo for safety, but the moment I walked through his door, I knew I wasn’t just in danger from my ex—I was in danger of falling again. He thinks he’s protecting me, keeping his distance. But every smouldering look says otherwise.

And every night, I wonder: what if I kissed him again? He thinks he’s just helping. But he doesn’t see how he’s rewiring my heart—how my daughter already adores him. I’m supposed to be surviving, not falling. But I know what I want…him. His hands. His mouth. His body. Even if it’s the one thing he swore I couldn’t have…

About The Author

My Review

This is a sharp, playful, and satisfying revenge-romance that brings the heat and heart in equal measure. As the second installment in The Karma Club series, it easily stands alone while offering enticing glimpses of the wider sisterhood between the heroines. Bella, the poised socialite with a jilted past, is a standout protagonist—clever, daring, and finally embracing her inner rebel as she takes on Chase, the charming but morally dubious gallery director. The chemistry between Bella and Chase crackles, and their dual POVs lend nuance to their evolving dynamic. Bella’s transformation from “Good Bella” to “Bad Bella” is both empowering and entertaining, and her salty sabotage tactics are laugh-out-loud clever. Chase, meanwhile, proves to be more than just a target—his artistic vulnerability and emotional guardedness make him a surprisingly layered counterpart. Their relationship growth feels organic, with Bella encouraging authenticity in him just as he inspires boldness in her.

A refreshing blend of female camaraderie, sizzling romance, and second chances, How to Get Even is a delightful page-turner with a strong, smart heroine at its core.
