Review Card & Book Card – Trouble Brewing By Walker Rose

Calder

I swore I’d never return to my family ranch and brewery. Those memories are best left buried in the dust. But when my father passes, it’s on me to sell up. The problem? Meredith Winslow—the girl running my father’s business. Except she’s no longer a girl… In those tight jeans, with a hotter-than-hell smirk and a fiery temper to match, she’s all woman. And she’s refusing to leave.

Meredith agrees to show me the ropes so I can help out until we sell. It’s exhausting work, so why can’t I sleep at night? Is it the paper-thin wall between us, the question of what she’s wearing to bed, or the thought of taking away the only home she’s ever known?

Meredith

I’ve worn my boots to the bone at Crossroads Ranch, feeding the horses by day and serving beer to the locals by night. Then brooding, bossy, sex-in-a-suit Calder turns up to kick the door closed on my life with one perfectly polished shoe.

This is the place I grew up wild and free. Calder says we have to leave it all behind. And I can’t let that happen…

Because somewhere between the eye rolls and heated arguments, early morning starts turn into late night flirting. Calling last orders turns into roaming hands and finally knowing what his stubble feels like against my neck. Riding side-by-side with our legs brushing turns into a hard, fast, stolen moment against a fence post…

About The Author

My Review

This book is about Calder Cross and Meredith Winslow, two people whose families were torn apart decades earlier, only to be brought back together by tragedy. After the sudden deaths of their loved ones, old resentment gives way to unexpected attraction, forcing them to confront grief, forgiveness, and feelings they never anticipated.

Walker Rose delivers a heartfelt cowboy romance packed with chemistry, emotional vulnerability, and plenty of spice. Calder and Meredith share undeniable tension, and the small gestures, affectionate nickname, and caring moments between them make their romance incredibly swoon-worthy. While their shift from lifelong animosity to passion occasionally feels rushed, their connection remains engaging and believable within the context of shared loss.

I especially appreciated Meredith’s unique, career-driven profession, which felt authentic and thoroughly researched. The dual POV format added depth, allowing readers to witness both characters’ growth and emotional journeys. Supporting characters like Sawyer, Bea, and Uncle Carlos brought warmth and charm to the story.

Although some dialogue felt younger than the characters’ ages and the cliffhanger may frustrate readers seeking closure, this is an emotional, addictive romance that keeps readers invested until the very end.

About The Author

My Review

This book is a lighthearted romance that turns a travel mishap into an unexpected love story. A double-booked cabin and one shared bed force Annabelle and Maverick together, creating plenty of entertaining and awkward moments.

What makes the story shine is the chemistry between the main characters. Their witty banter feels effortless, and the forced proximity leads to several laugh-out-loud situations. Maverick is fully invested from the start, and watching Annabelle slowly let down her defenses and embrace their connection is especially rewarding. Their more vulnerable moments add warmth and depth to the romance.

While the relationship progresses rather quickly and a few plot elements feel unnecessary, the story never loses its charm. The pacing keeps things moving, and the heartfelt grand gesture near the end provides a wonderfully swoony conclusion.

Overall, this is an enjoyable, easy-to-read romance that shows how unexpected mistakes can sometimes lead to something worth holding on to. Fans of humorous, feel-good love stories will likely have a great time with this one.
