Review Card & Book Review- Crazy Scripted Love By Elizabeth Drummond

The real story happens behind the scenes…

Lucie is overworked and underappreciated. She’s sick of putting her life on hold to be available to her boss 24/7, all in the hopes of finally landing her dream job as a film producer. When she gets the chance to fly to New York and work on a major movie script she’s determined not to let anything, or anyone, stand in her way.

Elliot is overlooked and overqualified. If he can re-work the script into something award-worthy, he’ll finally get the chance to direct his own films. The stakes couldn’t be higher, so the last thing he needs is some upstart amateur from London swooping in.

Cue the bickering and late-night rewrites. The more Lucie and Elliot are forced together the more sparks begin to fly, and soon they realise they might just make the perfect pair— but, soon they’ll find themselves tested in ways they never could have imagined …

Can they come together to script their very own happily-ever-after, or is this love story destined to end in tragedy?

About The Author

My Review

This book is about ambition, creative dreams, and the messy, irresistible chemistry that develops when two overworked assistants are forced to collaborate in the high-pressure world of filmmaking. Set between London and New York, it delivers a witty workplace rom-com packed with sharp banter, slow-burn tension, and plenty of heart.

Lucie and Elliot are instantly entertaining together. Their constant disagreements, sarcastic exchanges, and reluctant teamwork create the kind of enemies-to-lovers dynamic that feels both believable and addictive. What makes the romance especially satisfying is how naturally it evolves. The shift from irritation to affection never feels rushed, allowing their emotional connection to grow alongside their professional ambitions.

The film industry backdrop adds energy and charm to the story, while the career stakes keep the plot engaging beyond the romance itself. Lucie’s determination to escape her exhausting assistant role and Elliot’s hopes of directing give the story emotional grounding and purpose.

Although Elliot’s perspective could have added even more depth, the novel still succeeds as a charming, heartfelt rom-com with lovable characters, sparkling dialogue, and a deeply satisfying ending.

About The Author

My Review

This book is about two people from completely different worlds learning that stepping into someone else’s shoes can change everything. It delivers a charming, heartfelt small-town romance filled with humor, warmth, and emotional growth.

The job-swap premise between Krista and Joe is genuinely entertaining and creates plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but the story also carries surprising emotional depth. Watching Krista juggle her overwhelming responsibilities while slowly learning to breathe and trust others made her incredibly relatable. Joe, meanwhile, is the standout of the novel. His patience, kindness, and willingness to challenge himself make him an easy character to root for, and his personal growth throughout the week feels authentic and rewarding.

Despite taking place over only a short period, the romance never feels rushed. The pacing keeps the story engaging while allowing the connection between Krista and Joe to develop naturally. The returning Maple Falls side characters add extra charm without stealing focus, especially Kit, who brings humor and heart to every scene. Overall, this is a cozy, uplifting romance that balances sweetness, chemistry, and self-discovery beautifully.
