A final request. A hidden past. A hope for the future.
When Faith loses her beloved father, famous TV historian Richard Macintire, she is baffled to receive a final letter which sends her on an intriguing quest across the freezing Yorkshire moors.
To help solve the puzzle, Faith enlists the help of George, Richard’s mysterious but rather handsome Welsh protégé, her best friend Ivy and Ivy’s chaotic labradoodle, Teasel.
As they set off across Yorkshire, hindered by Teasel’s disastrous antics, they begin to unravel Richard’s clues. What they discover makes Faith reconsider the father she idolised and the happy childhood she’d taken for granted. Because, despite being devoted to Faith, Richard had secrets. And if Faith can get to the bottom of them, with George by her side, then a whole new future could open up to her, and even an unexpected romance…
Blunt, difficult, too much—that’s how orthopedic specialist Sasha’s ex described her. Now, back in New Zealand, Sasha’s putting her heartbreak behind her. Admittedly, falling into a colleague’s lap on her first day at a new hospital isn’t a great start! Infuriatingly sunny physiotherapist and disability activist Cam is everything Sasha isn’t but secretly wishes she was. Maybe, then, taking a risk and acting on their magnetic chemistry might not be so terrifying? Dare she hope that Cam wants her—just the way she is?
This book is about two wounded but deeply compassionate people finding connection, healing, and love while working together in a small-town hospital in New Zealand. Amy Blythe delivers a thoughtful workplace romance filled with emotional depth, engaging medical detail, and a refreshing take on vulnerability and resilience.
Cam is the standout hero of the story—kind, generous, sincere, and wonderfully complex. Beneath his warmth and charm lies a man carrying insecurities and emotional scars, yet he never loses his quiet determination or compassion. The author does an excellent job portraying Cam’s physical challenges and the social barriers he faces, showing his daily experiences with honesty and sensitivity rather than turning them into melodrama. Watching him navigate life, work, and relationships felt authentic and deeply moving.
Sasha is equally compelling as a talented orthopedic surgeon still struggling with feelings of inadequacy after past emotional wounds. Their relationship develops naturally, balancing tenderness, attraction, and mutual respect without relying on unnecessary drama. The hospital setting, supportive secondary characters, and detailed look into both professions added richness to the story. Although Sasha’s orthopedic specialization occasionally felt broad, the novel remains a heartfelt, intelligent, and emotionally satisfying read.
